Assessment In LiteratureForms of talk that are suitable for assessing students’ reading and writing
skills as well as understanding of subject content include discussion groups, writer’s circles, “author’s chair”, student– teacher conferences, literature circles, pair work, interviews, and book talks. As students engage in such activities, teachers listen for and observe students’ ability to explain, retell, summarize, synthesize, reflect on, and produce texts of many types! I came across this resource over the past few weeks and thought it would fit perfectly for educators that are trying to find an age/reading level appropriate book. This app allows you to scan the books bar code, in return the app will identify the books reading level and what age category is most suiting to the read. This would be extremely useful when trying to determine a shared/guided reading book.

This online database of videos and songs are perfect for DPA, restlessness or Brain Breaks. I recently completed my FDK elective and throughout the entirety of that course we promote the idea of play based learning. This resource is a perfect fit for this style of teaching approach.
https://www.gonoodle.com Today's lecture covered the social aspect to digital learning. It is possibly one of the most vital things to consider when learning about digital learning and the importance of this in schools. Students are all to familiar with social media and communicating over social media hubs such as Facebook or twitter. The understanding of some of the deep underlying concepts involved in these outlets is often overlooked or never touched upon. Students post without realizing the consequences of there actions both positive and negative online, import images and upload information that could result in turmoil. As future teachers, it is so important to understand this is now apart of our society online and encourage the proper teaching of these ideas, when sharing, commenting and communicating online.

Access this through: http://www.google.ca/forms/about/ Rita Pierson hits the nail on the head when it comes to inspiring teachers.. This video doesn't necessarily cover technology in the classroom but it definitely should make you think about what your classroom should be like and what sort of teacher you should be.
The 6 C's of technology based learning revolve around the student engagement and motivation when in the classroom or at school. Students who are now involved in technology based classrooms may find these characteristics: -Control -Challenge -Collaboration -Construct Meaning -Choice -Consequence Students who are plugged into a technology based classrooms will find that the technology they use will enhance these characteristics. This was a great article published by the Government of Ontario: http://www.edu.gov.on.ca/eng/document/reports/FullanReport_EN_07.pdf eLearning Landscapes- Electronic landscapes that are set up and implementing electronic devices to encourage and incorporate learning.
Blended Learning- Blended learning incorporates a variety of technological integration… -Using technology to collaborate student - student connections, rather than just teacher - student interactions. -Peer feedback/evaluation -Peer interaction Blended Learning: #1 Seamless connection between online & offline work #2 Increased student collaboration and control (Time-pace & pace-path) -More time to share thinking and look forward to peer feedback for students #3 Online classroom presence - A Base for students to come back to and resort #4 Repurposed Time -Blended learning isnt about the technology its about the design… If we get caught up in the tools (electronics) we miss the point of the lesson. Web 2 always been a substantial part of my technological life. It is an important tool in which to input, locate & share information. This bank of information can be accessed and utilized by anyone which makes it a beautiful yet scary resource. The safety and security of this information is debatable, as anyone can add whatever information they like. Yet if the proper technological skills are taught I see nothing wrong with, in fact I support, the addition and use of this outlet when teaching. During my practicum I didn't have any real chance to use the internet other than when exploring the Statistics Canada Site myself infant of the class on the overhead. This was controlled be the teacher which did not allow students a chance to have access to the Web. http://www.digitalpassport.org/dpAdmin/teacher/overview http://www.pickmypoint.com/2014/07/best-web-20-sites-with-high-pr-for-seo.html |
